Before you start to design graphically or coding your website, there are a few important questions to answer in order to plan out things in the best way possible.
Important questions before you start designing your website:
– What is the propose of the website? Just introduce yourself? Sell online? Or any other function?
– Is your idea have the capability to sell online? (for online sell you should be able to deliver the content right after payment to the customer and normally use for products. If you are in Service business, you can use an online booking function).
– What is your domain name? Tip: It should be simple and easy to remember.
– How many pages do you need?
– What would be your offer on each page? What is the function of each page? (Do not leave any page without content. Each page should deliver something informative to the user. It could be a text, photo or contact information)
– What is the call to action? (You already know your call to action. Would you ask the customer to call you? download? Upload? Or any other function)
– Did you think about the Legal Issues? (You must protect users’ data, so find out the website privacy policy in your country, write the text, and put it on your website.)
– What is GDPR? How you should comply with it? (If you live in Europe your website should be GDPR compliance. Find more about it)
Now that you know what is the purpose of your website and what functions would you have on your website, it’s time to design the structure of it. It means, what is the first page which your customer will see? What kind of workflow would your customers go through when they are visiting your website? So, try to be visual and draw everything. How do you want your customers to react to each page of your website? In the next part, you will learn about the process of automation and how to design an automated system.
